Years ago, I was introduced to Enlightened Leadership, and met the authors including participating in their seminars. Their “framework” is very effective, using a questioning technique to allow the person led to derive his goals himself and in doing so get great buy in. There is now a blog and here is a post that is of great interest to IT leaders:
Leadership Made Simple » Change Management Made Simple!
“There seems to be a flurry of interest in change management by our readers … Think about it. Many change initiatives are across organizational boundaries, thus authority is limited for any manager or individual responsible for the initiative. At most, there might be some “dotted line” responsibility to the change agent. Therefore, leadership is required”.
The authors have released an updated book, Leadership Made Simple, which expresses the framework even more simply and more accessibly. I recommend it.
