Cisco Systems’ New Client/Server Messaging Protocol Announced

I don’t know too much about these technologies, but this seems like a very meaningful announcement.  From CIO.com.

Cisco Systems’ New Client/Server Messaging Protocol Announced

This week Cisco Systems announced a new messaging protocol intended to allow developers to integrate client/server applications without the overhead of traditional protocols such as SOAP. The new protocol, Etch, was introduced at a developer’s conference covering the new 2.5 release of the Cisco Unified Application Environment …

For project managers starting new work, Etch may offer an attractive alternative to SOAP, CORBA, EJB and other established messaging protocols. Etch promises a distributed application development without the cross-platform headaches that SOAP entails, and with a degree of performance that makes it practical for real-time applications that are chattier than traditional SOA infrastructures are set up for.

Fraud-prevention pitchman is ID theft victim - CNN.com

Todd Davis Although misleading, this guy’s ads have always been more for insurance than prevention. And that’s because his firm has no advantage over other firms in providing protection. Their gimmick is the risk he’s taking and the insurance. Now, in the article, it states that the insurance limitations are so narrow that even the insurance is a gimmick. Now, LifeLock customers in Maryland, New Jersey and West Virginia are suing Davis, claiming his service didn’t work as promised and he knew it wouldn’t, because the service had failed even him.

The Real Threat to Google — Business Week

Fascinating!

The Real Threat to Google
Google’s biggest threat may not be Microsoft (MSFT) or Yahoo! (YHOO)…No, one of the most formidable challenges facing Google (GOOG) is likely sitting in your pocket or purse. It’s your cell phone, and it will put added pressure on Google and other Internet companies to revamp the way they handle online marketing.

As more people use cell phones and their tiny glass screens to gain access to the Internet, Google and its fellow online advertisers will have less space, or what’s called ad inventory, to place marketing messages for customers. Google makes money selling ad inventory. And its ad inventory is diminished on a cell phone…
